As the economy begins to recover, many companies are seeking to expand their workforce. But, as these businesses seek help, many more are experiencing a disparity between the candidates they want to hire and the talent that is available in a market, according to a survey by Express Employment Professionals, a staffing agency based in Oklahoma.
According to the survey, 37 percent of respondents are hiring for commercial and light industrial jobs, which may require these companies to train individuals with online OSHA training software as these jobs are usually highly skilled and involve manual work. In addition, 20 percent of businesses said they plan to hire administrative and clerical staff, and 8 percent will bring on an engineering position. Furthermore, 7 percent of respondents will hire accounting and finance employees and 5 percent will increase their marketing and IT workforce.
"Hiring and retaining top talent is critical to every business' success," says Robert Funk, CEO and chairman of the board for Express. "Despite the high number of job seekers looking for work today and the increasing number of employers hiring, many employers are reporting that they can't find the right person for the job."
Furthermore, more than half of employers who responded to the survey said they are having a hard time finding the appropriate candidate for their position. Qualifications are most popularly judged by a candidate's previous experience, attitude and work ethic, according to the survey.
Many experts believe an increased emphasis on employee training will aid in helping businesses find the right talent for the job. By slightly loosening their standards, these companies may open doors for many individuals they may not have otherwise paid attention to.
And, with the use of an effective online training software, companies will be able to educate and mold these employees into the ideal candidates they've been searching for.
